when i started this blog i wanted to chronicle the thoughts and feelings as i went through this whole possible pregnancy journey. well, today through some research on my own, i found out something else very interesting.
a couple years ago during a routine PAP and culture, my doctor found active strep bacteria and gave me antibiotics to treat it. she said to tell the doctors to test me before giving birth in case its active (if i ever got pregnant) cause there was a chance the baby could contract it as it went through the birth canal during labor unless i was treated with antibiotics before labor.
a couple weeks ago, during another PAP and culture, the specialist i'm going to also said the bacteria was still there.
so today i did a little digging and found a most interesting article here and here. turns out 10-30% of mothers are carriers of this bacteria and don't even know it. read the full articles, there is some really good information there.
i'm learning something new everyday!!

Hey, Lani, interesting tidbit. I didn't have group B with Harrison, but I did with Joshua. Since they were both c-sections it's a non-issue. Women are tested for it before they give birth, usually during your last weeks of pregnancy and it you have it then you get IV antibiotics during labor. I have never tested positive during a pap... interesting...
