i had an encounter today with a young co-worker of mine. she's 22. in the few months that i've known her i'm always amazed with how she lies to get out of certain circumstances. she tries to always play the victim and never take responsibility for her actions. today she said something very disrespectful to me and i pointed that out to her. her response="i dont mind if people disrespect me" i was like, well, other people do! her mindset is that since she doesnt mind being talked to that way, it must be ok for her to speak like that to others. this is the same girl who also asked me once when the last time chris and i ever had an argument and cussed at eachother!?! i was like NEVER. she asked me if i ever cussed. i said no, i find that to be extremely disrespectful and ignorant to do so. she thought that was crazy. she owes alot of money for outstanding speeding tickets too, and yet when the city started rounding up those with outstanding warrants she freaked out...why? not so much because she would eventually have to pay the money and/or spend a night in jail...but because they would come to the office and lead her out in handcuffs, and to her that would be embarassing. ?!?! embarassing is your only concern?!?!? when i said that i was glad that they were clamping down on people who have avoided the law she acted like that was the worst thing in the world. apparently she managed to con her way out of paying some of those tickets by doing community service, of which she lied that she didnt work so that they would let her.
yes, i'm venting...but mostly because i just don't get it. and its not just her. when chris worked at the highschool he encountered the same mindset in the kids there. what is it thats making this generation think they dont have to take responsibility for their actions? and yet teachers (like chris) who do take a stand against these kids and make them take responsibilty end up leaving the profession because they get no help from thier fellow administrators. and we wonder why violence is apparent in the schools? if kids never learn right from wrong then they only grow up into adults who do the same and i'm scared to see what kind of world it will be then.ok, end of soapbox.

Amen. I don't get it either. Additionally, I'm still waiting for a guy who can "man up". We're not "big boys and girls" in our thirties, folks. Or even in our twenties. Have we looked back at what our parents managed with ON THEIR OWN?
What happened to life being sweet, often because it is a struggle worth the effort?
