during one of my doctor visits last month or so the doctor heard an extra heartbeat when listening to my heart. she referred me to a cardiologist to get checked out, just to make sure it wasnt anything serious.
i went thursday afternoon. they did an EKG which did show the extra beat. they did an ECG which is the ultrasound of the heart--that was very cool! i'd never seen my heart like that. it was neat to see it contracting and doing its job. they checked for any leaks and saw a slight one of the mitro-valve. they said most people have a little leak here and there, its a matter of how much of one. they didnt seem too concerned with this. i then was given a Holt moniter which recorded my hearbeat and any changes for about 18 hours.
i will know the moniter results next week when i go in for the stress test. the main thing is to make sure everything is fine in the rare event i do get pregnant..don't want anything else that could complicate things. but i'm not worried, my ticker will tick for quite some time :)
