Poteet Strawberry Festival

This past weekend was the annual Poteet Strawberry festival. in the years that we have lived here we never went, so this time we decided to go. there were lots of retail booths and food booths. there were various shows put on during the day for both kids and adults. my favorite was the Raptor Rehabilitation show as seen below. we ate some good strawberry food-shortcake, ice cream, wine cooler and nutbread. yum! there was fantastic homemade kettle corn too! on our way out we bought a bunch of these strawberries and will be making some pies--anybody want to come over?

this little falcon was my favorite...he's so small and cute!! but he would bite my finger off in a heartbeat. these are just some of the Birds of Prey at the show. the majority of them were injured in some aspect and they have been brought back to health, but are no longer able to fly free in the wild due to thier injuries. they are now used to teach others about the birds of prey and how we can help them in their natural habitat.
no, that is not a stuffed animal. that is a real eagle!

you aren't actually comparing a TX strawberry festival to THE Plant City FL Strawberry Festival (winter strawberry capital of the world) are you? :)

I am not sure about the Strawberry Festival in Texas but I imagine that compared to the Plant City Strawberry Festival in Florida it would probably be bigger considering everything in Texas is bigger:):):):) I will come over.

Anyway Florida Strawberries are not as good as California Strawberries and considering San Antonio is closer to California I think that they would be better than Florida ones.
