you know when you are little and the most exciting thing was picking out toys in the Toys-R-Us catalogue for Christmas? you spent hours gazing at all the toys, eagerly anticipating which ones Santa would bring you on that big day....
well, sad to say, i think i've met my adult match. and it may surprise some of you. let me back up...
in getting ready to start my new job on monday i've had to go out and buy some business casual clothes. for the past 4 years my work wardrobe has consisted of t-shirts, shorts, sandles, and on occasion my pajamas. yes, i'm being serious. as part of the interview process for this new job i learned the attire was "business casual" with "casual Fridays". i knew i was in trouble, since the only nice clothes in my closet either didnt fit or consisted of 1 skirt that did. (thats what i get for going to a very casual church, too, where i wore pretty much what i wore to my job)
so i've had to brave the clothes shops and pick out some outfits that were more professional. in my search i came across the store Catherines. since its a plus-size store i can find clothes that fit better, although i'm kinda in-between. size wise i'm on the small end of Catherines, (so the styles are a bit limited in some), but on the big end of regular stores. it gets frustrating, needless to say. anyway, while paying for my clothes today i noticed their lingerie department. and this my friends is where my childhood anticipation met my adult responsbilites. why, you ask?
because there i stood gazing at all the nice undergarments that could actually fit me, and not only that, but tomorrow i will have a proper bra-fitting for the first time since i was like 12 or so! the clerk said she could make it feel like i didnt even notice i was wearing a bra. ladies, doesnt that sound heavenly?! i'm actually excited to go through this process!! there's nothing like wearing the wrong type of bra. men, just take it from me or your significant others. this is gospel truth. wearing the right bra can make the world of a differnce both mentally and physically.
so yes, i'm eager for tomorrow to come. sad that its something like this and not a cool action figure or toy. but considering all the other things that come with adulthood, its not so bad!
