got the results today from my bloodwork that the OB doctor took at my first appt on nov 8th. overall things look pretty normal for me. my red blood cell stuff is about the same as back in september. so taking the iron supplements twice a day (i'm going on my 5th month of doing so) is maintaining things but doesnt seem to be really improving much. there is added iron in the prenatal pill too, so maybe that will make a difference. a couple tests came back flagged:
-white blood cell count 11.0 (range 3.8-10.8)
-absolute neutrophils (a type of wbc) 7997 (range 1500-7800)
there are several factors that can cause these to be high (infection, stress, inflammation). the doctor isnt concerned, so if its nothing to her, then its nothing to me!
other results:
blood type A
RH type positive
Hepatitis B-negative
HIV-negative
Rubella-negative
23 mutations of cystic fibrosis were tested-none found
Hemoglobin A1C (this reflects your average blood sugar level over the past 2-3 months)
5.8% (non-diabetic should be under 6%.....i wonder though if i were to stop taking the Glucophage that i've been on since February(which help controlls the blood sugar) if my number would be higher..)
i've been testing my blood sugar 4 times a day as requested by my doctor. its really interesting to see how the levels change depending on the foods you eat. i'm not really sure how the doctor will see the results. if you go by some ranges that say <140 is good, then i'm doing well. but if you go by the ranges that say <99 is good, which the past blood tests i've had done use, then i'm not doing good, and this is being measured while i'm taking the medicine too. it was interesting the other day i tested chris then myself...i was 20 points higher than him (i was over 99, he was normal). so i'm not really sure what to make of the A1C and this sugar testing. all i know is that my fingers are getting sore from being pricked!
