Fetal non-stress test

when i was checking out from the dr. apt i had on monday with the specialist, they said that upon the next visit in 2 weeks they would preform a non-stress test (NST) on the baby. and then yesterday when i was seeing my regular obgyn she said she wanted me back in 2 weeks for a NST. i told her the specialist was also doing one so she then scheduled me for one the week after that so that i'll be seeing either her or the other doctor at least 1x a week from then until Catilin arrives.(starting may 5). since i'll soon be having this NST every week i thought i'd learn what it was all about. well, its just like it says-non stress test. they hook up a heartbeat moniter to the tummy and record the baby's heartbeat over a period of time to make sure she is moving properly and getting enough oxygen. you can read more about it here. piece of cake. i think Caitlin will be fine, as long as its not during one of her sleep cycles. but the nurse said to have some cold water before i come which usually stimulates the baby to move just in case. so we'll see in a couple weeks what happens! :)
