too much too soon
i admit it. i've overdone it. normally taking care of the house, birds, and caitlin yesterday and then last night goin out to a meeting with some friends shouldnt wear me out. but today i feel like a Mac truck has run me over. my whole body is sore from my head to my feet. the dr. gave me a diruetic on monday to help my swollen feet since they had not gone down and while its slowly working it is also causing me to have a bad headache. that on top of sore breasts, pain from the c-section still, and being very tired... well, i'm just barely hanging in there not only physically but emotionally too. i gotta say i envy men right now-they dont have the pressure of feeding the baby at all hours of the night. if they dont feel like getting up, they have the choice not to. but i dont have that luxery. even though i feel like crap, i still gotta be up for hours in the middle of the night to breastfeed Caitlin. don't get me wrong, when i look into her eyes and hold her it reminds me what its all about. i would do anything for her without hesitation, i love her so much. but how do i deal with everything without feeling so overwhelmed?

it's hard! i remember my first week with jack and i was soo overwhelmed and cried a lot. ha.
one thing that helped me was having friends over. being around people was good for me. they helped me with the baby, but also it helped me emotionally.
if you need a helping hand, feel free to let me know. i wouldn't mind at all!
Hey Lani - I didnt get to recover from my C sections because my kids were in the NICU BUT...all my friends who had C sections spent much time in the bed for a couple of weeks recovering soooo...Im guessing you're just doing too much too fast. Plus, adjusting to the milk coming in and the exhaustion of figuring out the whole feeding thing and recovering from 9 mos of pregnancy. Wow! They say breast feeding is natural and yes, it is but it doesnt always feel natural because it's so exhausting and consuming. Just be careful...keep an eye on your emotions too because a lot of people get overwhelmed and get the baby blues, etc. I think everything youre feeling is totally normal. You will be okay but it is quite an adjustment and it takes a while to get adjusted but you will! I promise...these are tough but wonderful times.
ohhh, sweet girl. the first few weeks are SO HARD. there's just no way around it! i wish there was a magical answer. . .it's exhausting, and stressful, and a bit painful too. so how is it, that its wonderful and precious and magial all at the same time? (because if it weren't none of us would ever go through it all!) here's my advice: use paper plates. refuse to do dishes. let your house get dirty and dusty. wear the same pj's for as many days as you can bear. brush your teeth occasionally. sleep every single time you have the opportunity. sit on the couch, nurse the baby, and watch tv. a LOT. (and take pictures when you can!) we're all here for you, near and far!!!!! you are NOT alone. just take things one day (or hour) at a time. Hugs girly!
thanks to ya'll for your advice and insight, i really really appreciate it!! can you imagine what it must have felt like being the first mom ever-without anyone to turn to who had previous experience to draw from? i never would have made it!
