Caitlin's 9 month checkup

9 month checkup was yesterday....she is doing well. coming in at 21 lbs 12 oz and 28 3/4 in long. this puts her in the 95 percentile for both height and weight! big girl. but doc was pleased she was proportionally sound.

she is now at stage 3 foods meaning the world of baby food is all hers! oatmeal, juice, finger foods, fruits and veggies that are bite sized and dont have to be all pureed. its exciting. we are suppossed to get her to start weaning away from the bottle and onto cups. i only have to give her formula for 3 more months (horray says my wallet!)

also, in 3 months she can sit forward facing in her carseat because she is already past the weight limit, now she just has to turn 1 year. that will be good, too.

we discussed with the doctor her habit of not falling asleep in her crib. doctor said to let her cry till she puts herself to sleep. this has been so hard for me. as a mom it just tugs on my maternal heartstrings every time i hear her cry. but doc said if we dont curb this behavior now, it will only get worse down the line. true. so last night we let caitlin cry herself to sleep...guess how long she cried for....2 hours!!! it was hard for everyone! but we made it through and this morning she is her usual cheerful self waking at her usual time. we'll see how long that lasts throughout the day today!

I know you are supposed to do that. I don't think I ever let Kady cry in her bed, which meant she still has sleep issues. Not often, but still as a 10 year old she has trouble going to sleep. For those who let the baby cry, I heard it takes at least 3 nights, but not more than a week. Good luck with that!

thanks. i dont know if it was cause she was so tired or what, but she was soo cranky the next day after being up late screaming. but then she went to sleep on the way home from small group and we were able to put her right into her crib and she hardly moved (even when we changed her diaper!) so that was good. i'm afraid though tonight may be another battle night. we'll see...
