so there is a really friendly cat that has befriended me the past week and half. i got up one morning and saw her alseep in our deck chair. when i went outside, she jumped down and ran right up to me. well, hobbled,actually, cause she has a bum leg. looks to me like she broke her foot. she gets around very well though with her other legs and only slightly putting pressure on her bum leg. anyway, i had never seen her before. she is a beauty too. the fact that she is sooo friendly and wanting to come inside my home tells me she was someones pet. but there are no signs posted up anywhere noting a missing cat. nobody is claiming her. (obviously i cant let her in due to the birds and Chris' allergies)
she is also pregnant. and there are 4 ferral male cats that also linger in my backyard who i'm sure have ganged banged her. plus there is another young female who i'm pretty certain is also pregnant. i know i need to take them in to get fixed. i left messages on the low-cost spay/neuter phonelines and await a return call. i've called the animal shelters and rescue groups but they are full. the only cat who lets me touch it is the new friendly one.
so i called my own vet. they said they can spay her, even being pregnant (essentially an abortion), but the cost is pretty high=close to $300! ouch! i can barely pay my car registration, much less something like this.
i feel so stuck. these cats need some help, but i dont know what else to do. anyone got any ideas???
