today was another no-go for the stress test due to my blood pressure, again. i asked about "white coat syndrome"--seems to be higher there than at my own house (though its not excatly wonderful at home either, but still a little better of a reading) my doctor said there is another kind of test they can do which does not matter what the blood pressure is=a nuclear stress test where you are injected with radioactive dye and they moniter it that way. the catch is that my doctor wants to be 100% positive that i am not currently pregnant. this should be an easy yes or no answer, except my cycles are never regular. the longest cycle i've had (start of period until start of next period) over the past year has been 44 days. currently i am going on day 42. i've taken over the counter tests which say negative. i'm pretty darn sure i'm not prg and that the stress of late (school, work!) is whats delaying my period. but in order to be safe my doctor told me to schedule an apt with the fertility specialist to double check. if indeed i'm not pregnant then the cardiologist will do the nuclear test. on the other hand, if i am preg, then she said the test can wait. she said she wouldnt rule out any heart disease totally, but that i'm not in the immediate risk category, either. so in the meantime she prescribed something else to take in order to controll the BP.
i have the Gyn apt on friday, then we'll go from there...
