went back to the dr. today to go over lab results he took last week. its been 3 months since i started the iron regiment, etc and he wanted to see how things were going.
a few things:
1) iron is still a little low. keep taking the iron pills 2x day. he said they havent gotten worse, but they havent really gotten any better either. he said he could give me something to make them better but it would make me sick, so for now he wants to just keep going as before and keep an eye on it.
2) liver numbers are down from before and in healthy range. the elevation from last time was prob due to a virus i was also dealing with at the same time. he said anytime you are sick the liver works a little harder and being that my liver is already dealing with the inflammed fatty liver situation (NASH) the levels will be on the higher side whenever i am sick or even taking medications for being sick. he will still moniter it just to make sure.
3) total cholesteral is down from before and now in healthy range. LDL "bad cholesteral" is down from before and in healthy range. but triglicerides and HDL "good cholesteral" numbers are in unhealthy range. he prescribed Lovaza twice a day to help get those better. that is basically a high potency omega 3 without the oil. he said you'd have to take a handfull of the otc fish oil capsules to equal one pill, plus you'd get all the oil that goes with that and he doesnt want me to have the oil. not only will this help the triglicerides but that in turn will also help the liver situation.
i'm to keep taking the glucophage-the glucose numbers were in a healthy range. keep taking the blood pressure pills-BP is healthy. and then of course to increase exercise and watch my diet-stuff i know needs to be done but lacks motivation!
i go back in Feb to have the annual full physical. hopefully by then the iron and cholesterol will be in normal ranges..we can hope!
