long ago weather

the weather tonight is perfect. after feeding the cats i stayed outside, just sitting there, enjoying the breeze and sun. they say certain smells trigger memories. well, the air is full of them tonight. my mind traveled back to simpler days...playing soccer in elementry school when i lived in Virginia, going downtown Stuttgart with my friends in highschool, hanging out on the lawn in St. Augustine when i was in college, taking a walk along the beach in Daytona and then having dinner at the pier afterwords. those moments are very precious to me. when life gets to be overwhelming i welcome this kind of weather that brings me back to the basics.

the air can't turn into more fall/winter fast enough for me. this is my favorite time of year. so many great memories...my mind is already at the Oktoberfest down the street in New Braunfels, walking through the Kristkindle Market in Germany and sitting at the InterVarsity meeting at Flagler drinking apple cider and watching The Christmas Story. those were the days.

In my best Chris Farley voice:
Remember that time we went for a drive in my car? That was awesome!

And then there was that time we drove to Disney World, but we drove by an old, burned-down warehouse and I told you that Disney had burned down. You cried and cried, but in the end I think you thought it was funny.

Wait... Was that you?

Jack Handy would be proud.

Good ol' Jack Handy.

Dave cover your ears:

There was that one time, at band camp...
