sharon's husband was at Bible study tonight and gave us an update... he said that the doctors have lowered the setting on the ventilator in hopes that she will start to breathe on her own. she is still comatose-has not been awake since monday evening, not even on her own now. the doctors are going to do a brain scan to see how much of her brain is still functioning. they did a stimulus test today and her upper body responded (arms and hands) but there was no reaction in the lower body at all. he said the doctors and nurses are all still baffled as to exactly what happened that caused all this (maybe we need Dr. Gregory House!) but they all said its a miracle that she made it this far, they were predicting that she would pass tuesday. so now the prayer request is that sharon would wake up,and not have any brain damage, and her body would be at full fuctioning. please keep this family in your prayers.
UPDATE, Saturday 3-1-08: got this email from a friend..."Stephen just called with a ‘Praise God’ report. Sharon began waking this afternoon. She recognized family; knew she was in the hospital; knew Darlene (her best friend) was here earlier in the week; and tried to hold a picture.
She is still on the ventilator but now she is beginning to wake up. Thanks for your prayers; please keep praying."
