make the most of every minute!

i found out yesterday that a friend of mine from church is in ICU at the hospital because of pneumonia. she was on a respirator and her heart and kidneys were unstable because of bacteria from the lungs that entered her blood stream. she has been sedated and the doctors wont really know much for a few days. . this morning the update was that her BP and pulse have stabilized for the time being as well as her kidneys, praise God, but they need to improve. she is still sedated and on the ventilator. her name is Sharon and she could really really use your prayers.

well, last night i had some very bad dreams. my subconscious went on overdrive and this morning i'm full of anxiety and regret. i say regret because my dreams went back to when my mom was sick 10 years ago. it was only a few months from the time she was diagnosed and the time she passed away. to this day i regret not having more time with her before the cancer so rapidly overtook her body. i still remember the last coherent thing she ever told me (before her mind started going in and out). i was in FL, she was in TX, and she said she was stopping the treatment because she wanted "quality of life, not quantity". you cant argue with that. we just didnt know at that time just how short that quality would last. this thing with Sharon was very unexpected too. when i saw her Thursday she was her fun loving self. over the weekend she didnt feel well thinking it was the flu, and the next minute she is rushed to the hospital with breathing problems and organ failure.

despite the many blessings we've been bestowed lately and the envelope of peace, i just cant seem to shake this bad feeling this morning. what bothers me most is that i thought i had dealt with mom's death already. but i guess its a lifelong thing,eh? one thing is for sure though, i want to take this moment today to let all my friends and family know how much i love ya'll. dont ever forget that. we need to make the most of every day because in a heartbeat it could be over.

UPDATE: got an update a few hours ago. doctors are carefully bringing Sharon out of her heavy sedation. she is moving her hands and feet some and occasionally opens her eyes. her BP and pulse are stabilizing. her fever is going down. so this is all a very good sign. her ears have filled with fluid though.
