NST #1

yesterday was my first nonstress test for Caitlin. i was hooked up to two different moniters-one to check baby's heartbeat, another to check for contractions. the nurse gave me some cold water to drink to help facilitate the movement of Caitlin so they could get accurate readings. they wanted her to be active so they could see how her heartbeat changed. at one point she was too calm so they used a buzzer thingy which vibrated on my tummy to give her a jolt! it was neat seeing the numbers rise and fall and hearing her move around. she stayed in the 139-145 bpm range which is normal. at one point i could feel a cramp happening, and when that happened her heartrate shot up in the 160's! when the nurse came back in to check on me i asked her what that was all about..she looked at the printout and said i had had a contraction and since there isnt alot of room for baby she gets kinda squished, thus the increased heartrate. the monitor showed i had about 4 contractions while i was sitting there but they were nothing to be concerned about. they said Caitlin looked like a happy baby in there and the results were good.

If she's a happy baby, does that mean she's been "jumping for joy" when I come home from work?
