the real Baby Story

when i was pregnant i loved watching A Baby Story on TLC. but now i try to watch it and while its still sentimental to see the babies being born it also aggrivates me because the tv makes it look so easy. know what i mean? so i was thinking if i had a chance to make a real baby story show this is what i would include-

  • having a c-section isnt a bunch of roses. you dont just lie there and then the next minute you're done and whola-theres baby in your arms. once the baby arrives you still gotta lay there for another 15 minutes or so while they sew you up. and then you may get the shakes, sometimes pretty bad (like i did) ,while the medication flows through your body. sometimes the medication messes with your blood pressure and you gotta have injections of epinephran to raise it back up (i had 3 shots). you are transported to a recovery room and dont get to hold your baby until much later. the pain is intense. you cant even sit yourself up in the hospital bed without help. you gotta wait a few days before taking a shower, and even when you do it hurts to do so. and then a month later when the tv show does an update on the family the mom shows no sign of discomfort. wrong! you are still sore to some degree even a month later. sometimes you may never have feeling back in parts of your abdomin. so a c-section is alot more than what they show on tv.
  • i'd show the mom doing tons of laundry! never before in my life have i done laundry practically every day.
  • there are mood swings as the hormones settle down. the first few weeks are especially hard. the tv shows parents so jolly with their newborn...lets be real, its not always gonna be like that.
  • they should show the moms eating a huge meal after their baby is born (unless its a c-section, then they gotta wait until the next day). depending on how long the labor is you know they gotta be hungry!
  • they never show the parents leaving the hospital with the baby...did they get a carseat and was it installed properly?
  • what about feeding the baby? if the moms are breastfeeding are they also using a pump? what do they think of that? if they are bottle feeding is the baby responding to the formula well?

ok, i think thats enough for now. i may update this later as i think of more things. if i missed something feel free to comment and add your thoughts too!

How about the one where the dad doesn't help out at all?

That would be just awful! (But it happens all the time!)
