interesting day yesterday

yesterday morning i was feeding Caitlin and there was a knock at the door. my neighbor was there talking on her cell phone and said to me "somebody wants to talk to you"...she hands me the phone and its chris! turns out he had an accident on his motorcycle which you can read about on his blog here and had been trying to get ahold of me for an hour or so on my phone except my phone was in the back bedroom and i had not heard it ring at all. thankfully he was ok. but i felt/feel so terrible about missing the calls, i'm glad he was able to reach our neighbor. what if something more serious had happened? i would have had no clue at the time. needless to say i'll be more careful to have my phone nearby from now on!

Caitlin has grown so much lately i had to see just how much. so yesterday i weighed her on our scale here and measured her, and it turns out she now weighs 9.6 lbs and is 23 inches long. 2 pounds and 2 inches in a month..she's gonna be a big girl! but its no wonder that she is eating us out of house and home already :) last night at our weekly church group meeting she was wide awake. usually she is zonked out. but she is becoming alot more aware of her surroundings and likes to gaze at everything. she slept more last night too- when we got home i fed her and put her to bed around 11pm. usually she's up around 2am, but she didnt wake until 4am! and then she slept in this morning till 8:30 or so (usually its 7-ish). its hard to plan my mornings cause i never know when she's gonna wake and feed...but i'm glad she may be leaning towards longer sleep at night! also yesterday she held her head up on her own for around 30 seconds! she is getting better and better at it every day. i gotta take more pictures soon and capture her growth.

last night while we were gone our female cockatiel Sweetie finally laid her egg. she has been in nesting mode for a week or so, so we knew it was coming. problem is that she decided to drop it from her perch, and it cracked when it hit the bottom. this is the second time this has happened. normally she lays them on the bottom of the cage or in a box if we provide it. the eggs are not fertile, so its not like she killed her young, thankfully.

so lets see what today brings! hopefully a calm and collected day.
