we got to the coast with good timing tonight. after taking the ferry over to Port Aransas we saw a sign showing the various hotels on the island and picked out a few to see if there were vacancies. only 2 were on the beach proper and i thought for sure they would be waay out of our price range. but i was wrong! we are staying at a place called Sandcastle condominiums..and it turns out that tonight is the last night for the winter rates. the room is an efficiency. and for about the same price we payed to stay at a different regular hotel last time we were here we get so much more plus we can sit on the balcony and see the waves or walk right down to the beach. we are definatly going to remember Sandcastle for the next time we come to the area!
you know, its pretty cool how God works isnt it?! i had budgeted a certain amount for our trip to include the hotel and meals. but when i checked my mail before leaving today i had a nice surprise blessing---turns out i had overpaid on a doctor bill, and they sent back to me a refund check! so we cashed that and used it to go to a nice place for dinner tonight (verses drive thru type place which i was budgeting for!) and had fresh seafood. i had some Mahi-Mahi and chris had some crabcakes. we ate at a place called Pelicans Landing.
now i think i'll curl up and do some reading. peace and quiet..ah. relaxing. (but i feel like i'm missing something! oh wait, my daugher!!)

I am so jealous, I would do almost anything to see the Gulf of Mexico again. I was actually in that area when I was 16, went to a track event at Port Aransas High School. I remember thinking how the beaches reminded me so much of my hometown Panama City. Well have fun, and relax, you guys deserve a few days off!
