this past week i sat down and created a budget based soley on chris income. thats all we have now, and on the paper things look pretty tough. i've mentioned before how even though it may not look like we'll make it, God has always provided for us. our Needs have been met, not neccesairly our wants. its taking some time to adjust our way of thinking since its never been this tight before, but i actually accept this. its like a challenge, and i need some of that for my brain every so often!
so one way to embrace this challenge was in the area of meals. a friend of mine planned out a months worth of meals and then set up a shopping schedule on a bi-weekly basis. that way its already set each time-just grab the list and go. i really liked that idea, so yesterday i did our meal planning. knowing i had about $60/week to spend on groceries i had to be creative. and i'm actually happy with the results..i'm ending up with $30/week total for our food dinners. and since chris likes leftovers for his lunch the next day i dont have to spend extra for lunches. caitlin and i can get by on basic stuff during the day, and now that she is off baby food it will be alot cheaper too. that leaves plenty of $ each week for other things like toilet paper, cereal, milk, bread, fruit, etc.
sure, our food isnt gourmet by any means. and i only have budgeted for us to eat out once a month, but our basic Need will be met, and thats what matters.
