week one menu winner and recipe

first week of new cooking menu is over and my favorite dish was the sausage, cabbage and bean soup. the other dishes were ok but i doubt i'd make them again. this soup however i will. it was warm, healthy, and tasted good! here is the recipe from a little book i have called Slow Cooker Recipes and the few modifications i did:

1 onion
12 ounces andouilie sausage, sliced 1/2 inch thick (i used Butterball turkey smoked sausage)
1 bay leaf (i didnt have any on hand so left this out)
8 cups chicken broth
3 Tb tomato paste
1/2 savoy cabbage, shredded (i used half a bag of the preshredded coleslaw mix)
4 medium tomatoes, chopped (i used 2 cups can diced tomatoes)
2 cans (14oz) butter beans, drained
salt and pepper to taste

cook onion and sausage in skillet until tender and brown (i didnt. i just put them in the crockpot as is). place bay leaf, chicken broth, tomato paste and cabbage in slow cooker. stir well to combine with sausage mixture. cover and cook on LOW 4 hours or on HIGH 2 hours. add tomatoes and butter beans; season with salt and pepper. cover and cook 1 hour more.
