thank you SCC for a moment with God

yesterday i had an overdue moment with God thanks in part to Paul Colman and esp. Steven Curtis Chapman.

this weekend Sea World was hosting Praise Wave-a weekend full of concerts by christian bands and christian music pouring out the speakers all over the park. it was very cool. well, Paul Colman came to our church service sunday morning and talked and played with our worship team. he said some things that resonated with me mostly about seeing ourselves as God sees us, and not trying to be something we're not.

then sunday afternoon Paul, a group called Caleb, Max Lucado, and SCC were performing at Praise Wave. i'm soo glad i went!! i had actually seen Paul once before when we lived in North Carolina back in 2001 when he was part of the Paul Colman Trio, but i had never seen any of the others in person. Paul was the mc of the show and also a performer who was wonderful as alwasys! and as it turns out, Caleb is the son of Steven Curtis Chapman. his group was good. Max as always had a good word to say. but the real headliner was Steven.

if for some reason you are reading this and do not know about Steven Curtis Chapman and what has happened to his family recently well the past couple years have been very difficult. on May 21, 2008 his 5 year old daughter Maria was killed in a freak accident. Steven was very candid in how he is still dealing with this loss expressing himself both emotionally and verbally. he didn't know if he would continue writing and performing. he had doubts. he has pain. but most of all, he has a faith and assurance in God and that one day he will see the bigger picture. the songs on his newest album reflect alot of this journey he has been going through.

i was an emotional wreck during the concert. i could relate to the pain of loss. in a couple weeks it will be the 12yr anniversary of my mom's passing. and for me to hear that Dove award, Grammy award, longtime christian music maker Steven Curtis Chapman also had some of the same feelings i was still carrying around and has been able to come out on the other side, well, it was what i needed to hear. i have alot of battles with God that i'm still holding onto. but last night i was able to let some of them go and find some peace. hallelujah!

one of SCC's songs is called Cinderella. it came out during the time i was pregnant with Caitlin. when chris heard it for the first time he, as well as many other men i know, got a little emotional. i videoed it on my phone, so the picture and sound isnt that great. but you can still hear him sing. enjoy.

Cinderella, Steven Curtis Chapman: (even though its black, click on the arrow and it will play)

She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders

It's been a long day
And there's still work to do
She's pulling at me
Saying "Dad, I need you

There's a ball at the castle
And I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone...

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

She will be gone

Well, she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowing and telling us all they had planned
She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
But I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
