busy weekend

this weekend has been a busy one for me. yesterday was the semi-annual bird show sponsered by the Alamo Exhibition Bird Club. (note to self: i really should go to one of their meetings sometime.) i had told myself that going to the show would be the reward for doing some house cleaning... so i took care of some things around the house in the morning then went to the show.

there is a big bird show every spring and fall where vendors/breeders from all over come to san antonio (Live Oak, to be specific) to sell their birds and supplies. in fact this time a year ago was when we got Mozart. i was hoping to see his breeder this time around and tell them how much we enjoy Mo but unfortunatly they were not there this time. another vendor who i really like to buy toys from wasnt there this time either. they must have been booked elsewhere. anyway, its always fun to see and hear the different birds and toys.

i came home tired and pretty much crashed the rest of the afternoon. but wouldnt you know i got an energy peak around 7pm and decided to rearrange my office. i like it better now. unfortunatly i strained my lower back when moving things around. (not hard to do esp since my lower back is where my cramps decided to attack this month and was already sore) i was going to take bath but decided to curl up into a ball and sleep instead.

this morning more cramps and bachaches made me pretty much miserable. but my mood changed when an old friend from highschool called from Iraq! it was nice catching up on things. funny how with some friends it could be years between seeing eachother or even communicating with eachother but when you do its like no time had passed. those are the coolest types of friendships.

after talking to him for a bit i still didnt feel that great and was in no shape to go out anywhere so decided to try making a few recipes from a new cookbook i bought- Better Homes and Gardens Carb Counter's Diabetic Cookbook and from www.foodnetwork.com from the cookbook-Whole Wheat Pumpkin Muffins and Blueberry Gems. from Foodnetwork-Apple Spice Cake. the pumpkin muffins turned out a tad on the dry side, but will taste good with soups and the blueberry mini-muffins turned out good. but the best was the apple cake-moist and delicious!!. there's plenty to share, so i'll be taking some of each to work!

the weekend is already coming to a close. it just flew by way too fast. i did just take some time to have that warm bath and read a book for a bit...thats a nice way to calm down after a busy weekend. tomorrow is back to work where i can relax!
