No-kill backers recruit help from Spurs' ranks
It's a historic partnership that combines corporate fundraising prowess and the prestige of the San Antonio Spurs with grass-roots elbow grease — all in an effort to save more stray and unwanted animals from what has become certain doom at the city's animal shelter.
Peter Holt, chairman and CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, announced Thursday that he and Laura McKieran, co-founder of Citizens for Pound Reform, will lead a consortium of community partners to help the city attain its goal of becoming a no-kill community by 2012.
