Josh Groban concert

For my birthday this year my dad got tickets to Josh Groban's "Straight to You" tour. I was soo excited! I love Josh Groban and have seen him twice in concert before. But this year we had floor seats. FLOOR SEATS!!! So i was even more excited about the big night.

We first had dinner at TGIFriday before the concert. I had not been there in a long time but I always like eating there. Right now they have one of those deals where you get an appetizer, entree, and desert all for only $12.99. I picked out the spinach and artichoke flatbread for the appetizer, dijon crusted chicken for the entree, and oreo cookie ice cream for the dessert. it was by far one of the best meals i've had in a long time. seriously a great deal!! go check it out. then we were off to the concert.

His opening act was a guy named Eric Lewis, but he goes by Elew. I had never heard of him, but he was pretty good. he is a fusion mastermind on the piano. he calls what he does rockjazz. anyway give him a listen and decide for yourself.

Next up was Josh. While the stage crew was getting things set up i looked over and noticed that there was a piano very close to where we were sitting. a small stage was set up right in the middle of the floor audience. and sure enough once the lights went down the stage was raised up and behold, Josh! right there in front of me!!! (well, technically to the side of me). i've never been that close to one of my favorite performers!!

During the show he would go between the small stage and the big one at the front. He mingled with the audience, greeting and talking to people. at the end of the concert he even had 4 people from the audience come up on stage with him where they pulled out couches, had them sit down and gave them something to drink while Josh sang a couple songs. ON STAGE WITH HIM! very cool. The thing that struck me was the type of fans he has. very mature and respectable. Josh didn't need a bunch of security following him around in case of rabid wild fans throwing themselves on him.

Of course his songs were beautiful as always. this is the 3rd time i've seen him in concert and he always sounds amazing. he really is as good in person as on his albums. the orchestra and band were great too. i was sad when the concert was over, but after 2 hours of entertaining the guy deserved a break :) i can't wait till he comes back again!

the only down side to everything is that i forgot to bring my camera. doh! but i did have the camera on my cell phone that i took pics and video with. the quality isn't so good. but i'll post a few once i learn how to download them to my computer.

so that was my night. turning 36 has never been so good!

(i realize my grammer, spelling and punctuation is pretty bad. but just go with it...)
